BOX SCORE

The Harvard women's volleyball team won a marathon first set and carried that momentum all the way to a 3-0 victory Saturday night at Dillon Gym. The win keeps the Crimson in second place in the Ivy League, while Princeton falls to 2-5 in league play.

Princeton got 10 kills from Tiana Woolridge, while sophomore Kendall Peterkin added nine kills and 10 digs. Freshman Cara Mattaliano added eight kills and six digs, while freshman Lauren Miller had 25 assists and five digs.

A service ace by Mattaliano gave Princeton a 26-25 lead in the first set, but Harvard responded with a kill to save the set point. Both teams traded point to get to 27-27, but Harvard got a kill and a hitting error to take the set.

The Crimson got out to a 13-6 lead in the second set, but the Tigers got back even on consecutive kills from Peterkin and Francie Jenkins. Harvard reclaimed the lead at 23-22, and back-to-back kills by Erin Cooney gave Harvard the win; the Crimson surged late in the third as well to complete a perfect Ivy League weekend.

The Tigers will start the second half of their Ivy League season next Friday when they head to The Palestra for a 7 pm showdown against Penn. Princeton rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Quakers in the Ivy opener for both teams.
