Box Score

Columbia has been a challenging spot to win in the Ivy League recently, and Princeton brought a young team there Saturday coming off its first league loss. The Tigers showed resolve in a tough spot, winning two 25-23 sets en route to a 3-1 road win.

Princeton improved to 6-7 overall, 2-1 in the Ivy League, with the victory. The Tigers share second place in the Ivy League with Cornell and Brown, while Yale remains unbeaten in league play. Princeton will travel to the Northeast next weekend to take on both Brown (Friday, 7) and Yale (Saturday, 5).

Freshman Cara Mattaliano led the offense with 17 kills, while sophomore Kendall Peterkin added 13 kills and five digs. The middle duo of Nicole Kincade and Tiana Woolridge continued to be highly effective, combining for 21 kills with only two errors; Woolridge hit .667 in the match, while Kincade had a team-high eight blocks.

While the offense was effective, Princeton both outblocked (11-8) and outdug (60-49) Columbia in the win. Sophomore Sarah Daschbach had 22 digs, at least twice as many as any player on the court, while four Princeton players had at least three blocks.

Freshman Lauren Miller led the offense with 38 assists, though junior Ginny Willis came in and added 12 assists and five digs in the victory. Head coach Sabrina King used much of her depth in the win; eight Princeton players had at least one kill, including four from Francie Jenkins and three from Ellie Shannon. Junior co-captain Sarah Hanna had two kills and three blocks.
