The Princeton softball team will welcome five members of the Class of 2017, including Haley Hineman, Claire Klausner, Erica Nori, Marissa Reynolds and Kelsey Smith.

Joining 14 returners, the five will become part of a team that this spring enjoyed its best Ivy League record since 2008 and its best overall record since 2006 in the first year under head coach Lisa Sweeney, the winningest first-year coach in Princeton softball history and the second-winningest first-year coach in Ivy League softball history.

Sweeney on Hineman:  Haley is an athletic, well-trained middle infielder who has come on strong this past year offensively as well. She plays for a competitive high school and travel ball team giving her high-level softball experience entering her freshman year.

Sweeney on Klausner: Claire’s versatility is her best asset. Aside from being an accomplished pitcher, she hits, runs well, and can play anywhere in the field. Her experience as a multi-sport athlete in high school adds great dimension to her game.

Sweeney on Nori:  Erica has the frame and spin to be a strong pitcher for us in the league. After an injury set her back her junior year, she is back to 100 percent and always improving. She’s an incredibly composed athlete whose knowledge of the game will be an immediate asset to the pitching staff.

Sweeney on Reynolds: Offensively, Marissa has shown a lot of promise in her high school and travel ball careers that will add to our hitting lineup. A true outfielder, Marissa is a competitor whose passion for the game is infectious. Her hard working attitude will benefit our team both on and off the field.

Kelsey Smith – C/UT  (R/R)
