Princeton closes out its regular season Saturday afternoon (4 pm) at Dillon Gym with an "EIVA Rallies" showdown with George Mason. A victory would assure the Tigers a postseason rematch with the Patriots five days later.

Prior to the season, the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) announced the formation of the “EIVA Rallies” campaign to benefit the Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital for Cancer Research Center. In all EIVA travel partner matches, coaches will wear fedoras or other business casual hats to bring awareness this season. The campaign began Feb. 8 when George Mason defeated Princeton 3-1 in the EIVA opener for both teams.

“The EIVA partnership with Sloan Kettering and cancer research touches every one of us,” said former EIVA Head Coach of the Year Sam Shweisky. “We all know someone who has been touched by cancer. I think the EIVA, and all the coaches and players, understand how meaningful it is to support cancer research and the efforts Sloan Kettering.”

This weekend's match could have implications on the 2013 EIVA Championships, held April 25-27 at Penn State. If Harvard (9-4 EIVA) wins at Sacred Heart (2-11) Saturday afternoon, then Princeton will need to win against George Mason to clinch the third seed. If that happens, Princeton and George Mason will play in one semifinal, while Penn State will host Harvard in the other.

If Harvard and George Mason both win Saturday, then Princeton would face Penn State in the semifinals.

The match will feature the league's two points leaders in EIVA play. Princeton junior Pat Schwagler leads the league with 4.6 points per set (league play only); he has 215 points in 47 sets. Mason senior Mark Jones is just off the pace with 4.5 per set; he has 215.5 points in 48 sets.

Between 11-12, Shweisky and the Princeton coaching staff will be hosting a free clinic for high school boys at Dillon Gym.
