Finally, Lisa Boyce was able to have a swim completely free of pressure. After her morning swim at the final day of the 2013 NCAA Championships clinched All-America honors, Boyce moved up a spot in the 'B' final and placed 13th overall in the 100 free.

The two-time reigning Ivy League champion in the event set both the Ivy League and Princeton record in the prelims by swimming a 48.37 in the 100 free to place 14th during the session. That assured her a spot in the 'B' final, where she went 48.47 to finish 15th. It was the best finish for a Princeton swimmer since Alicia Aemisegger '10 finished second in the mile at the 2010 NCAA Championships.

"It was a rocky start, going from Ivies at home with my teammates and the alumni, to being here," Boyce said on the weekend experience. "I just wanted to go for it today. I went out and was just going to push as hard as I could."

"What a great swim," said a thrilled head coach Susan Teeter after prelims. "We knew she was capable of a great swim. I'm very happy for her that she can now add NCAA All-American to her list of accomplishments. She's earned it."

Boyce is Princeton's first swimmer to earn All-America honors in the 100 free since Grace Cornelius in 1991. She joins an exclusive list of Princeton All-Americas in the event, which includes Cathy Corcione '74, Jane Fremon '75, Mary Sykes '79, Elizabeth Lind '86 and Cornelius.

"I am proud of the way Lisa came in this morning ready to swim the way she knows how," assistant coach Suzanne Yee said. "She had two tough races to start off the meet and her 100 free in prelims showed how she has matured as a swimmer and can learn from each swim to become an even better competitor. I knew as soon as I saw her first 25 that she had put herself in a place to become an All-America."

Boyce is a seven-time individual Ivy League champion, and she led Princeton to an upset win over Harvard in the 2013 Ivy League championships last month. She has won the 50 free, 100 back and 100 free in each of the last two Ivy League championships, and she won the 100 back as a freshman.
