Princeton senior outfielder Candy Button was recognized Friday with a place on the CoSIDA Captial One Academic All-District II softball team.

District II covers New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, D.C., West Virginia and Kentucky. Button was one of 12 honorees on the Division I team. The Ivy League is split between Districts I and II, and Button was one of just three Ivy Leaguers to be honored between the two districts.

A computer science major, Button is a member of the Tau Beta Pi national engineering honor society and earned Princeton's Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence during her college career. She has held internships at Microsoft and Facebook.

On the field, Button had her best year as a Tiger in 2013, helping Princeton (27-19, 12-8) to its most overall victories since 2006 and most Ivy League wins since 2008. Button posted career highs in games played (44), batting average (.277), at bats (141), runs (19), hits (39), doubles (10, a team-best), home runs (five) and stolen bases (three).

Button is now eligible for a spot on the Academic All-America team, which will be released on May 23.
