Heading back to Baltimore for the second time in as many weekends, the Princeton softball team will participate again in a series of games co-hosted by UMBC and Coppin State.

Rain is in the forecast again this weekend as it was last weekend, so changes in the schedule are possible.

The Tigers are off to their best record through nine games since 2006, standing at 6-3. Through Wednesday's games, Princeton leads the Ivy League in batting average at .313 and is second in ERA at 2.55. Alyssa Schmidt is the Ivy's leader in batting average at .514, in slugging at .676, in hits at 19 and in doubles with six. Candy Button has an Ivy-best eight RBIs. In the circle, rookie Shanna Christian is holding opponents to an Ivy-best .164 batting average.

Princeton will have a twinbill beginning at 11:45 a.m. Friday against Hampton at Coppin State before facing host Coppin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Princeton will head over to UMBC for a 2:25 p.m. game against Hampton before a game against the host Retrievers at 4:20 p.m., and Sunday, the Tigers will head back to Coppin State for a game against host Coppin at 2:45 p.m.

Hampton will enter the weekend at 11-16 overall and on a five-game skid. The Pirates have three regular starters hitting better than .300, led by Margaret Wilkins at .411 and sharing the team lead in home runs with three of the team's 10. In the circle, Jailynn Jackson has thrown 103 of the team's 171 innings, compiling an 8-7 record and 3.34 ERA.

UMBC enters its home tournament at 5-15 overall. Taylor Hall is the team's top hitter at .375 with five of the team's 11 home runs. Heather Brown leads the team in the circle at 3-3 with a 2.60 ERA in 35 innings.

Coppin State was 5-5 through last weekend with Danielle Smith leading the team in hits, with 16, and a .400 average. The Eagles have used four pitchers this year with Alyssa Barker holding a team-best 4.14 ERA.

Princeton defeated both Coppin State and UMBC last weekend, Alex Peyton outdueling Coppin's Barker for a 6-3 win and Peyton again getting the win over UMBC, 12-2. Rachel Ionata, second on the team in innings, started for the Retrievers.
