PRINCETON, N.J. (9/8/12) - Coming off of a 3-0 win over St. Joseph's, the Princeton women's soccer team looks to keep the streak alive as it hosts Temple on Sunday, Sept. 9 at noon on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Princeton is undefeated against Temple, winning all four games in the series. The teams haven't met however in nearly 20 years, the last game coming in 1995.
The Tigers are 1-1-1 overall, with a one-goal loss to No. 15 Wake Forest and a 4-4 tie with Colgate. Senior Jen Hoy has been unstoppable on the front line, scoring five goals. Freshman Jessica Lee has three points on a goal and an assist. Senior Caitlin Blosser, freshman Megan Gittins each have a goal while sophomores Liana Cornacchio and Jessica Haley have two assists apiece. Princeton has utilized three goalkeepers this season with senior Kristin Watson getting two starts, and senior Claire Pinciaro getting the nod in the last game. Sophomore Darcy Hargadon has also seen significant time playing 65 minutes. Pinciaro has the better numbers with a 0.00 GAA and a 1.000 save percentage and the shutout from the St. Joe's game.
Temple is 2-3-1 on the season. It dropped a pair of games to Hofstra (3-1) and James Madison (2-0) to open the season, defeated NJIT (1-0), lost to Penn (2-0) and most recently beat Iona (1-0) on Friday night. The Owls are 0-2-1 when playing on the road. The team averages 8.2 shots per game and has allowed 16.6. Kate Yurkovic has two of her teams three goals and Jourdan Brill has the other. Casey Greco has one assist. Tara Murphy has played the majority of minutes in goal, all but 11, and has made 36 saves on 44 shots for a 1.57 GAA and an .818 save percentage.
