The Princeton women's soccer program, coming off an undefeated, untied Ivy League season and a win in the NCAA tournament, will welcome nine members of the Class of 2017 onto the team. GoPrincetonTigers.com will introduce you to the newcomers one by one through the offseason.
Fiona McKenna • Defender
Hinsdale, Ill. • Hinsdale Central
A two-sport athlete, McKenna secured a place on the U.S. U-18 national women's ice hockey team in summer 2012. She made her decision to attend Princeton more than a year ago. Top Drawer Soccer has given her a three-star rating and rated her team's defense the best in the Elite Clubs National League in January among all the program's U-18 teams.
Coach Julie Shackford on Fiona McKenna:
"Fiona is quite simply one of the most driven athletes we have come across. She is a tenacious defender and can play central or wide. She is a great 1v1 defender and her grit and tenacity have enabled her to become one of the better defenders in the youth game. Her ECNL Eclipse team has been among the stingiest in defending over the past couple of years. The amazing thing about Fiona is that she is also a national team ice hockey player. She will compete in two sports at Princeton. We are thrilled to have such a determined athlete in our program and excited for her future in the orange and black."
