Princeton freshman Tyler Lussi had two goals and two assists over the Tigers' two games last week, and the Ivy League office has presented her with the league's Rookie of the Week honor for the second time this season.
Lussi scored twice in Princeton's 3-1 win at Fordham last Tuesday and she assisted on two goals in the team's 3-2 overtime defeat against Yale Saturday. The assists were her first two of the season, and the goals gave her the team lead and the overall conference lead, which she now shares with Yale's Melissa Gavin.
Even with nine regular-season games remaining, Lussi is the first Princeton freshman to score six goals in a season since Vicki Anagnostopoulos '10 in 2006. The program record for goals in a season by a freshman is 13, set by Sue Mooney '85 in 1981.
Lussi is the first Princeton freshman to win two Ivy League Rookie of the Week awards in a season since teammate Lauren Lazo in 2011. She is the first Tiger freshman to win two non-shared Rookie of the Week awards since Diana Matheson '08 in 2004. Lussi first won the award three weeks ago, on Sept. 9.
The Tigers (4-2-2, 0-1 Ivy) will hit the field again Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game at Roberts Stadium against La Salle (8-2).
