Coming off the Princeton women’s basketball team’s first-place clinching weekend, sophomore Annie Tarakchian earned her first career Ivy League Player of the Week honor.

Tarakchian had a career weekend, playing a key role off the bench in the Tigers’ wins at Dartmouth and Harvard. The guard/forward averaged only 18 minutes per game, but was highly productive tallying 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 84.6 percent (11-for-13) from the field over the two-day slate.

She paced the Tigers with 14 points at Dartmouth on Feb. 21, setting a new personal best. Tarakchian’s record day extended to her 6-of-7 shooting from the field and matched her career high with two three-pointers.

The next night at Harvard, a game with major title implications on the line, Tarakchian proved to be a key catalyst in Princeton’s second half push past the Crimson. She topped her newly minted points record with 15, including a career-high three triples, and grabbed four boards.

She guided a 15-5 second half run with three treys to lift Princeton to a 49-46 lead with 9:36 to play. Harvard would come back and tie it 61-all at 3:05, but Tarakchian grabbed the defensive board on the Crimson ensuing drive to set up the Tigers’ final 8-0 run to seal the win. During that span she added a clutch layin with 30 seconds left, putting Princeton up by two possessions, 65-61.

Tarakchian and the league-leading Tigers (17-6, 8-1 Ivy) head next to Yale (Feb. 28) and Brown (Mar. 1) for their final regular season road weekend.
