Paced by three goals apiece from Kurt Buchbinder and Jovan Jeremic and a well-executed defensive effort, the No. 13 Princeton men’s water polo team defeated Bucknell, 14-9, Sunday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool. The win preserves Princeton’s undefeated Southern Division record, while improving the Tigers to 11-3, 4-0 Southern on the year.

Goalie Ben Dearborn limited the Bison to only four goals over his three quarters of work, including a shutout first. The senior had 10 saves in the winning effort to move to 6-1 on the season.

Thomas Nelson scored twice and Jeremic added the first of his trio in the first quarter, setting up a 7-0 run over the first two periods for the Tigers.

Dearborn nearly had a pair of shutout quarters to open the game, but Bucknell connected with 1:05 left in the first half to send Princeton into the break with an 8-1 advantage.

Princeton maintained its momentum through the second half, extending its lead to 11-4 in the third quarter.

Tyler Amina took over duties in the cage in the fourth, making two saves and a steal.

The Tigers finished with eight steals in the match, led by Buchbinder and Galainena’s pair each.

Drew Hoffenberg, Jamie Kuprenas and Nelson made three assists, as Princeton distributed the ball well throughout the contest.

The Tigers will remain at home next weekend hosting Johns Hopkins at 2 p.m. and Navy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
