Princeton women's basketball forward Kristen Helmstetter was named Ivy League Player of the Week, it was announced Monday. The junior earns her first career conference accolade and the Tigers' third of the season. She shares this week's honor with Harvard's Christine Clark.

In her first career Ivy start versus Penn on Jan. 12, Helmstetter finished with 12 points, going 4-for-5 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. She matched a career-high with seven assists, for second-best in the game, while adding a steal and a pair of boards in only 25 minutes of work.

Versus the Quakers, Helmstetter accounted for five of Princeton's first 13 points, while adding three assists during that span to jut the Tigers out to a 13-0 lead over the first five minutes of action. Princeton defeated Penn 77-47, winning its 25th consecutive Ivy contest and 14th straight at home.

On Jan. 8 versus Navy, she tallied 14 points, going 6-for-7 from the field, while grabbing six boards to conclude the non-conference slate.

Helmstetter is averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game on the year. Since moving into the starting lineup 10 games ago, she has scored in double figures eight times and established new career-highs in nearly every statistical category.

She also was recognized as College Sport Madness' Ivy League Player of the Week, for the week of Jan. 14.

Helmstetter and the Tigers will take a brief break for first semester final exams before resuming Ivy play at Cornell on Friday, Feb. 1 and Columbia the following evening.
