Women's Basketball Announces 2012-13 Schedule
The Princeton women's basketball program has released its 2012-13 schedule, it was announced Monday by head coach Courtney Banghart. The three-time reigning Ivy League Champions will face five squads that advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament and host 13 of its 28 scheduled games in Jadwin Gym during the upcoming campaign.
"We are thrilled to officially release our 2012-13 season's schedule. While we are encouraged by the continued growth of this program overall, we remain hungry to take the next steps. We realize that we only get better by continually putting ourselves to the test: this is reflected in both how we practice and in how we schedule. This is a group of Tigers that loves to compete. As such, we have provided them with one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country as ten of our fourteen non-conference opponents played in the post-season last year and many were their conference champions. This is a group that sets the bar high. We are all hard at work and eager to get started," said Banghart.
Princeton's season officially opens on Sunday, Nov. 11 at St. Joseph's in Philadelphia, Pa. Following a two-game road swing, the Tigers will open the home half of the schedule with local rival Rider on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
The non-conference slate extends into January and has Princeton playing across the country. Stops include a trip to Delaware (Dec. 9), a post-Thanksgiving weekend in Southern California to face UC Riverside (Nov. 23) and UCLA (Nov. 25), and a pre-Christmas trip to the state of Illinois to square off with Illinois State (Dec. 19) and DePaul (Dec. 21).
Princeton's quest to remain perfect in Ivy play for the second consecutive season and third time in a four-year span begins on Saturday, Jan 12 versus Penn. The Tigers' home slate concludes with Ivy rival Brown on Saturday, Mar. 9, and the regular season officially wraps up where it started in Philadelphia, Pa., this time at Penn on Tuesday, Mar. 12.
The 2013 NCAA Tournament is set to commence Mar. 23 and 24.
