Help Reunite Men's Basketball Alumni on the Court
Many of the same members of the Princeton men's basketball team who were on the court when Douglas Davis '12 hit his incredible shot to send Princeton to the 2011 NCAA Tournament are trying to reunite on the court next month in Philadelphia, and they need your help.
The group has entered itself for a chance to play in The Basketball Tournament, a 32-team bracket that will begin next month at Philadelphia University. To play, the team, called PUBB Champions Tour, needs people to sign up as fans, and the entries with the 24 largest fan bases will gain entry into the tournament.
The team roster includes current seniors Jimmy Sherburne, T.J. Bray and Will Barrett, Ian Hummer '13, Brendan Connolly '13, Douglas Davis '12, Dan Mavraides '11, Kareem Maddox '11, Pawel Buczak '10 and Alex Okafor '09. The roster features eight members of the 2011 team that came within two points of eventual Final Four team Kentucky, with four players among them who scored 1,000 points in their Princeton careers.
To sign up, visit TheTournament.com, click on Login, then Create New Account, then click on 'Play' next to 'I am a Fan.' The team needs to sign up enough fans by May 1 in order to be considered.
If the Tigers gain entry to the tournament, the Round of 32 through the semifinals will be played June 6-8 at Philadelphia University, and the finals will be played June 28 at a site to be determined.
