Women's Water Polo Wins Southerns, Ties Program Wins Record
For the third straight year, the Princeton women's water polo team has won the Southern Division title, clinching the championship Sunday with an 11-4 win over Brown in Harvard's home pool.
It's the second time in program history that the Tigers have won three straight Southern crowns, with the first being a run from 2004-06. It's also the ninth Southerns title since the program's first varsity season in 1997.
Princeton never trailed against the Bears in a win that concluded a weekend sweep of George Washington, Harvard and Brown, running the program's win streak to 14 and its win total to 29, matching the 2012 team for the most in program history.
Katie Rigler, the team's leading scorer on the season, led the Tigers with five goals among six players to score against the Bears. Diana Murphy chipped in two goals, and goalie Ashleigh Johnson made 12 saves.
Princeton will await the seeding for the CWPA Championship at Bucknell in two weekends.
