Shon, Women's Golf Stand Atop Leaderboard Entering Final Round
Through 18 of 36 holes at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational, Princeton and senior Kelly Shon stand atop the team and individual leaderboards, though without much room for error over Sunday's final round at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.
Princeton stands atop the 17-team field by two shots over Columbia. Six of the seven Ivy League women's golf programs, all except Harvard, are in the field, and Ivies occupy the top four spots. While the Tigers lead the Lions by two, Penn is only two shots back of Columbia and Yale is just two shots back of Penn.
No player carded a red round Saturday in a blustery day in New Jersey, but Shon came closest, shooting a 74. She started the day with a double bogey on the first hole, and despite a birdie on the third hole, Shon stood at +3 six holes in. She steadied the rest of the day, making at least par on each of the last 12 holes with a birdie at 12.
Shon leads fellow Ivy Leaguer Marissa Kay of Penn and Anna Kim of St. John's by a shot heading into Sunday's final round.
