POTSDAM, N.Y. (3/8/14) – We’re headed to a Game 3 as No. 6 seed Clarkson took a 4-0 game from No. 12 Princeton on Saturday at Cheel Arena. After Princeton’s 3-2 overtime win last night, the teams will play a Game 3 to decide the series tomorrow at 7 p.m.

The Golden Knights scored twice in both the first and second periods.

Clarkson got on the board 54 seconds into the game. Christian Powers won a foot race to the puck in the corner and centered a pass to Allan McPherson. McPherson deked two defenders and found Jeff DiNallo at the right post and he backhanded in the first goal of the game.

A Clarkson power-play goal at 10:20 made it 2-0. Will Frederick landed a puck five hole that trickled over the goal line.

James de Haas tallied back-to-back goals in the second period.

After a Princeton player was tripped trying to break the puck out, Clarkson collected after a scramble and Bryan Sinz and Matt Zarbo followed up with shots on net. Zarbo collected his rebound and found de Haas inside the right circle and he fired for the goal at 4:22.

Six minutes later he found the back of the net again, when he ripped in a shot from the right point after Ben Sexton won the draw back to him.

Both teams went to different goaltenders tonight as Sean Bonar started for Princeton and Steve Perry for Clarkson, after a Colton Phinney/Greg Lewis matchup last night. Bonar made 33 saves, while Perry made 24.

Princeton's defense was much improved in the third period, as it limited Clarkson to just eight shots.

Princeton was 0 for 2 on the power play and 3 for 4 on the penalty kill.

Tournament Notes
• A No. 12 seed has beaten a No. 6 seed twice in the ECACs: Colgate over RPI in 2011 and Brown over Harvard in 2009
• Only six times (out off 44) has a team that won the first game lost the first-round series
