Day 1 Recap

HANOVER, N.H. (3/2/14) – The Princeton women’s track & field team finished fourth at the 2014 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships at Dartmouth this afternoon.

Four Tigers finished in second place and Princeton finished the meet with 79 points.

Harvard won the meet with 122 points, followed by Dartmouth in second with 102, Columbia third with 95, Cornell fifth with 54, Brown sixth with 37.5, Penn seventh with 27.5 and Yale eighth with 15 points.

Freshman Megan Curham earned her second second-place finish of the Heps, this time in the 3,000. She ran 9:22.08 nearly edging Dartmouth’s Giordano at the finish. Junior Emily de La Bruyere finished fourth at 9:25.44. de La Bruyere was a scorer in the mile as well, as she placed sixth with a time of 4:48.13.

Sophomore Inka Busack finished in second place in the high jump. The top three high jumpers all cleared 1.73 (5-8), but based on Busack clearing the height on her second attempt gave her second place, ahead of Harvard’s Raegan Nizdil. Classmate Taylor Morgan was fifth at 1.70 (5-7).

Despite getting 12 points in the event, Princeton fell back one place into fourth after high jump and the Tigers would remain there throughout the meet.

Two more runners-up came in the field events with senior Imani Oliver in the triple jump and sophomore Julia Ratcliffe in the weight throw.

Oliver jumped to 12.70 (41-8) on her final attempt. Four other jumps would have given her second place as she jumped to 12.17, 12.55, 12.48 and 12.46 before her final, big jump.

Ratcliffe took second in the weight for the second straight season. She threw to 19.13 (62-9.25) on her fourth attempt. Four fouls wouldn’t allow her to catch Harvard’s Adabelle Ekechukwu’s 20.81.

In the 800, senior Kacie O’Neil was fifth at 2:10.75. Sophomore Meghan McMullin just missed the final scoring spot at 2:14.13.

In the final events of the day, the 4x800 was fourth and the 4x400 was sixth.
