Women's Track & Field Claims Six Wins at Tiger Open

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/25/13) - The Princeton women's track & field team claimed six wins as the Tigers hosted the Tiger Open on Saturday, Jan. 25 in the return from a two-week exam period.

Sophomore Julia Ratcliffe won the weight throw at 19.28 (63-3.25). She earned the mark on her final throw, besting the rest of the competition by nearly three meters.

Senior Imani Oliver claimed a win in the triple jump as she reached 12.17 (39-11.25) on her second jump. Freshman Alexandra Lanzafame was third at 11.11 (36-5.50). Lanzafame was also fifth in the long jump, jumping to 5.33 (17-6).

Senior Lily Miller won the long jump leaping to 5.38 (17-8) and was also the runner-up in the 60-meter dash with a PR 7.95, breaking the eight-second mark for the first time.

In the high jump, Princeton had four athletes place in the top five. Sophomore Taylor Morgan won the event at 1.65 (5-5). Sophomore Inka Busack and senior Theresa Kennedy tied for second clearing 1.60 (5-3), while sophomore Kerry Krause was fifth at the same height.

Morgan, Krause, Kennedy and senior Beth McKenna made up Princeton’s 4x400 relay that finished in fourth place. The group raced across the line in 4:04.32.

The Tigers went 1-2-3 in the 500 with sophomore Meghan McMullin capturing the win at 1:15.66. Junior Emily Broyles clocked a 1:16.92 and freshman Elisa Steele was third at 1:17.26.

In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Teju Adewole was third cruising in at 8.87 while freshman Allison Harris was fifth at 9.15.

Junior Emily Easton was fifth in the 200 at 26.38, while sophomore Amanda Chang was third in the 3,000 as she posted a time of 10:38.24.

Broyles, sophomore Maria Seykora, senior Kacie O’Neil and junior Kathryn Fluehr won the DMR at 11:54.69. Princeton’s A, B, D, E and F relays followed.

Princeton will compete at The Armory next Saturday, Feb. 1 in Columbia’s Lions Invitational.
