No. 12 Women's Water Polo Goes Perfect at CWPA/MAAC Crossover

Maintaining its sturdy defensive line, the 12th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team went 4-0 at the CWPA/MAAC Crossover. The Tigers' defeated Wagner 14-8 and capped the weekend off with a 14-4 win over host Villanova.

Katie Rigler scored four goals and Molly McBee added three, as Princeton upended Wagner for the second time this season.

The Tigers' opened with a 4-0 run in the first quarter, but the Seahawks' managed a four-goal quarter of their own in the second to cut Princeton's lead down to two, 6-4, entering halftime.

Ashleigh Johnson tallied 12 saves, including seven in the second half to hold off Wagner.

Brittany Zwirner notched three assists and steals, and McBee added three of her own.

Johnson made four saves and held Villanova scoreless over her two quarters of work, while the offense opened with an eight-goal half. Princeton extended its opening charge by outlasting the Wildcats, 14-4, to defeat them for the second time this month.

The Tigers fired 23 shots on frame, while limiting Villanova to 11.

Princeton's offense was headlined by underclassmen Pippa Temple and Jessie Holechek's three and two goals, respectively. Defensively, Holechek made a team-high four steals and seniors Brittany Zwirner and Laura Martinez grabbed three apiece.

Amidst their 13-game road swing, the Tigers (11-2, 1-0 Southern) head to George Washington for a Friday, Mar. 8 meeting at 7 p.m.
