For the fourth time in the last five weeks, Princeton senior Ian Hummer has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week for men's basketball.

Hummer tied a career high with 28 points at Elon Saturday afternoon, helping the Tigers to a 74-64 win over the Phoenix and the team's third victory in its last four games.

Hummer also continued his climb up the Princeton career scoring list, moving ahead of Bob Scrabis '89 into seventh place with 1,381 career points. Current Tiger assistant coach Brian Earl '99 is next at 1,428 points.

Hummer also moved up two spots to fourth place on Princeton's list of career field goals made, now with 538. The only players ahead of him are former teammate Douglas Davis '12 (545), Kit Mueller '91 (556), and Bill Bradley '65 (856).

With the award, Hummer becomes the first Princeton player since the award's inception in 1985 to win four in a single season, passing former teammate Kareem Maddox '11, who had three as a senior. The most recent Ivy Leaguer to have as many weekly awards in one campaign was Penn's Zack Rosen, who had five awards last season and shares the single-season record with former Cornell player Ryan Wittman.

Coupled with one award each as a sophomore and a junior, Hummer has been named Ivy League Player of the Week six times in his career, the most for any Princeton player in the award's tenure. Rosen was the most recent player to have six in his career, and former Brown player Earl Hunt holds the career record with nine.

Adding in the early-season Ivy Player of the Week honor that Will Barrett won, a Princeton player has been named Ivy League Player of the Week five times this season, a Princeton record surpassing the four honors received in 1997-98, 2003-04 and 2010-11.

Hummer leads the team with per-game averages of 16.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 blocks. Among all Ivy Leaguers, Hummer co-leads the league in scoring with Harvard's Wesley Saunders and is in the top five in rebounds per game, field goal percentage (.509) and assists.

Hummer and the Tigers will open Ivy League play Saturday in Jadwin Gym with a 6 p.m. game against Penn.
