Cooke, Stearns Three-Point Days Not Enough As Tigers Fall To RPI 4-3
Kelly Cooke and Corey Stearns had three points each for the Princeton women's hockey team on an afternoon when Rennsalaer skated away with the two points that mattered most.
Princeton dug itself too big of a hole and just couldn't get all the way out, falling 4-3 to RPI at Baker Rink.
Princeton trailed 3-0 heading to the third period after allowing a shorthanded goal in the first period and then two more in the second.
Cooke and Stearns took turns setting each other up to make it a 3-2 game, and Cooke cut it to one again with a goal with 3:06 to go after RPI had gone up 4-2 with 12 minutes left. The Tigers couldn't get the equalizer after that.
Sally Butler also had an assist on Cooke's third goal.
The Engineers outshot the Tigers 27-16 and improved to 3-11-2, 1-5-0 ECAC, gaining their first ECAC win of the season. Princeton is now 5-7-2, 2-6-2 in the ECAC.
The Tigers will play Quinnipiac next Friday, December 7th, at 4 p.m. at Hobey Baker Rink.
