PRINCETON -- The Barclays Center in Brooklyn will open in late September, and the Princeton men's basketball team won't have to wait long for a look at New York City's newest arena.
Princeton is scheduled to face Fordham on Saturday, Dec. 15 as part of a doubleheader at the new home of the NBA's soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets.
Though the Tigers have played at several major venues in recent years -- including the RBC Center in Raleigh, N.C., this year and the St. Pete Times Forum in the NCAA Tournament last season -- it will be Princeton's first visit to an active NBA venue since Jan. 29, 2007, when the Tigers played Seton Hall at the then-home of the New Jersey Nets, Continental Airlines Arena. Princeton also played at the home of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bradley Center, that season.
Princeton is 17-11 all-time against Fordham, but the only meeting in the last 20 years came on Nov. 26, 2008, a 73-61 win at Fordham's Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx.
