PRINCETON -- Ian Hummer has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for his 17-point performance at UNC Greensboro Sunday, the Ivy League office announced Monday. Princeton won the game 65-50 to improve its record to 4-4 on the season.
The career-high scoring total marked the first time Hummer led Princeton in scoring in a game. Hummer was 4 of 5 from the field and 9 of 11 from the free-throw line, both improvements on his season-long performance heading into the contest. With the strong performance, Hummer upped his field-goal percentage from 42.1 percent to 46.5 percent and his free-throw percentage from 53.3 percent to 65.4 percent.
Hummer was efficient in his scoring, getting his 17 points along with two rebounds and two steals, all without a turnover, in just 12 minutes of play.
The rookie from Vienna, Va., has played in every game this season and has scored in six of them. His previous scoring best was 13 points at California two weeks ago.
The award is Princeton's first of the season in either the Ivy League Player of the Week or Rookie of the Week category. Princeton will host Monmouth Wednesday before traveling to Maine for a Sunday contest.
