Box Score & Play-by-Play: Game 1 | Game 2

Princeton jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game one by scoring in each of the first five innings, but San Jose State broke through late with 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings. The Spartans sent 10 batters to the plate against Tiger starter Shanna Christian and reliever Claire Klausner in the fifth and got five hits, a walk and a hit batter to score six runs. SJSU was back at it in the sixth, using three hits, a walk and two errors against Klausner and reliever Erica Nori to score the decisive four runs. Alyssa Schmidt led the Tigers at the plate in the opener, going 3 for 4 with a pair of runs driven in.

In game two, Skye Jerpbak cashed in Princeton's very first runner of the game against Santa Clara in the second inning when she brought home Marissa Reynolds on a sacrifice fly. The Tigers tacked on three more in the fifth, one coming on a two-out RBI single by Cara Worden that brought home Libby Crowe, and Reynolds followed Worden with a two-run triple for the 4-0 lead. Erica Nori made it stand up by stranding all five Santa Clara runners to reach scoring position. Maddie Cousens, Reynolds and Haley Hineman had two hits apiece in the nightcap.

Haley Hineman led the team in hits on the day, getting a double and scoring a run along the way. She was 4 for 7 at the plate on the doubleheader.

In the first game, San Jose State's fifth through ninth hitters each drove in a run to help erase Princeton's 6-0 lead in the fifth inning. Pinch hitter Nicole Schultz, hitting in the fifth slot, delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the sixth.

In game two, Erica Nori had a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth before starting the inning by allowing a single and a walk to put two on with nobody out. She responded by retiring the next three batters on two fly balls and a grounder to preserve the 1-0 lead. Princeton's bats responded in the top of the fifth by giving Nori three more runs on the way to Nori's first collegiate win.

• Princeton and San Jose State have now met five times on the softball field and will meet again Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. The Spartans now lead the all-time series 4-1.

• Princeton has tied the series 4-4 with Santa Clara and has now won the last four meetings. The series won't stay tied for long as Princeton and the Broncos will get together again at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.

• The Tigers continued spreading the pitching innings around, with three of Princeton's four arms seeing time in the circle today. The four pitchers on the staff have all seen between 12 2/3 and 17 2/3 innings.

• Princeton has been similarly balanced at the plate. Fourteen Tigers have a hit over Princeton's nine games this season, and seven players have between five and seven hits. Rachel Rendina leads the team with seven.

Princeton will face Santa Clara at 1 p.m. ET Sunday before facing San Jose State at 3 p.m. ET, both in San Jose.
