Box Score & Play-by-Play: Game 1 | Game 2

Rachel Rendina went 3-6 on the day, including a pair of hits in the eight-inning defeat to open the day and another in the game-two win.

Freshman Marissa Reynolds hit the first home run of the season for Princeton, giving the Tigers a 4-0 lead with a third-inning grand slam.

• Princeton and Hartford had never met entering today.

• The Princeton athletic staff put together a softball diamond on the Finney-Campbell turf fields, which are used for practice mostly by Princeton's football and lacrosse teams. Both of these teams were originally headed to a tournament at the University of Maryland. Once that was canceled due to an unplayable field, the teams were briefly set to head to a softball complex in Salem, Va. The fields were deemed unplayable there as well, and the idea for the first game on Finney-Campbell was hatched.

• Saturday's first game went into the international tiebreaker, in which a runner was placed on second base to start the eighth inning. Hartford won when it was able to move its international tiebreaker runner over and Princeton could not in its half of the inning.

• Erica Nori recorded the season's first save, closing out the 4-1 win for reliever Shanna Christian, who was credited with the win since starter Meredith Brown did not complete the required four innings.

• Freshman Haley Hineman had a hit in each of the two games today, her first as a Tiger. Fellow rookie Kelsey Smith had her first collegiate hit in the second game today.

• Three of junior Rachel Rendina's five hits on the season came in the twinbill today, as did two of classmate Alyssa Schmidt's three hits on the season.

• Junior Cara Worden went 2 for 3 in the second game today, her first multi-hit game of the season.

• Princeton will next play 13 games over nine days in California, beginning next Saturday in a San Jose State-hosted tournament.
