Princeton dropped only one individual game during the win in Hanover, and it got 3-0 wins from each of the top six players. Freshman Maria Elena Ubina led the charge with an 11-2, 11-7, 11-5 victory over Jacqueline Barnes at the No. 1 position. Junior Nicole Bunyan also looked good in her win over Melina Burk at No. 2, while Rachel Leizman opened her win at the No. 3 spot with an 11-2 victory in the opener.
Sophomore Tara Harrington faced the toughest challenge in the lineup; she dropped a 13-11 decision in the opening game, then needed wins of 11-8 and 11-7 to claim a lead. She took control in the fourth and closed the match with an 11-3 victory.
Princeton will now be off for the next two and a half weeks for finals, and it will return Wednesday, Jan. 29, with a key Ivy League showdown at Penn. Last season, Princeton defeated Penn 9-0 in Jadwin, though the Quakers bounced back for a victory in the Howe Cup third-place match.
Penn fell 6-3 at Harvard Sunday, leaving the Crimson undefeated in the Ivy League, while both Princeton and Penn are 1-1.
