HAMDEN, Conn. (12/7/12) - No. 13 Quinnipiac handed Princeton just its second ECAC Hockey loss in a 3-1 game on Friday, Dec. 7 at TD Bank Sports Center in the first game in a home-and-home series.

The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Princeton cut the lead to one in the second. Penalty trouble in the third wouldn't allow the Tigers to inch closer, and Quinnipiac sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the waning seconds.

Jeremy Langlois scored an unassisted goal at 5:34, on Quinnipiac's first shot on goal. Langlois stripped the puck from a Princeton defender in the left corner and walked in to put the puck between netminder Mike Condon and the right pipe.

Russell Goodman who just missed scoring early in the period snuck his second chance by Condon to help give his team a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. The goal came with 58.1 seconds left on the clock. Clay Harvey got the puck on the left side and Condon had to scoot back on the ice to make the pad save. Harvey recollected the puck and shifted it into the slot where Goodwin found room on the right side.

Princeton cut its deficit to one with a goal at 15:29 of the second, the only goal of the period. Junior Eric Carlson scored his second goal of the year and second in as many games with a wrist shot from the point in front of the Tigers' bench. Sophomore Tom Kroshus earned the assist. Kroshus has three points in the last two games.

The Tigers wouldn't be able to get themselves in the game after receiving two five-minute majors and two game misconducts in the third period. The first was on junior James Kerr after a hit on Zach Tolkinen four minutes into the period. The Tigers penalty kill was excellent over the next five minutes, holding the Bobcats to just four shots, three in succession.

With less than five minutes left Condon made his first of two spectacular saves, flying from the right side of the goal to the left to deny Connor Jones on the doorstep. Condon would make another beauty stuffing Matthew Peca on a breakaway two minutes later.

Carlson picked up a major and a misconduct at 18:21 on a hit from behind. A retailiation hit by Kellen Jones sent him to the box for two minutes.

Princeton pulled Condon after the next face off in favor of the extra skater. Quinnipiac had a clear bump off the right post but its next effort went into the empty net as it took a 3-1 lead with 39 seconds left.

Condon finished the game with 24 saves in the loss for Princeton. Eric Hartzell stopped 11 on the other end as Quinnipiac outshot Princeton 27-12.

Both teams finished 0 for 4 on the power play.

Princeton is now 3-5-3 overall and 2-2-3 in the ECAC. Quinnipiac improves to 11-3-2 overall and 7-0 in the league.

The teams face off again tomorrow afternoon, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m., at Hobey Baker Rink.
