A trio of victories and four of the top five finishes in the 200 IM helped the Princeton men's swimming and diving team race out to a Day 1 lead at the 2012 Brown Invitational, held at the brand new Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence.

Princeton leads the event with 300 points, while Dartmouth stands second with 258 points. Army is challenging Dartmouth with 245, while Columbia has 151 points.

Princeton opened the three-day meet with a victory in the 200 free relay, as the underclassman quartet of sophomore Harrison Wagner and freshmen Teo D'Alessandro, Jeremy Wong and Brooks Powell won the event in 1:20.23, nearly one full second faster than any team in the field. The 'B' team placed third overall, as Kaspar Raigla, Michael Strand, Brian Barrett and Ian Rea finished in 1:22.44.

Junior Paul Nolle is the reigning Ivy Leage champion in the 500 free, and he earned a hard-fought win over Brown's Cory Mayfield in a time of 4:29.31. Teammate Zach Ridout was also an 'A' finalist, where he took eighth in 4:38.16.

Princeton had a handful of contenders in the 200 IM, where it would ultimately take four of the top five spots, though Dartmouth Nejc Zupan won the race in an impressive 1:46.96. Hu-Van Wright took second in 1:48.54, while D'Alessandro finished third in 1:48.77. Freshmen Marco Bove (1:49.85) and Byron Sanborn (1:50.78) took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Princeton also took three of the top four spots in the 50 free, including a win in 20.04 by Wagner. Wong placed third in 20.59, while Powell finished fourth in 20.60. The Tigers concluded the swimming session with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay, as the foursome of Michael Strand, Sanborn, Raigla and Wagner finished in 3:18.61.

The Tigers also competed in the 1-meter diving session, and sophomore Michael Manhard finished fifth with 295.00 points.
