Princeton and Rutgers will get together for the 34th straight season Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Jadwin Gym.
The Tigers hold a 32-2 advantage in the series, with Rutgers' only wins coming in 1995 and 1996. Princeton has won 17 straight over Rutgers with each of the last five meetings taking place at Princeton. The Tigers have won 12 straight over the Scarlet Knights at home, with the last home loss coming in 1996. Princeton's last two wins over Rutgers have come by 7-0 scores.
This season, Princeton has alternated wins and losses and will be looking to break that pattern against Rutgers, which would put Princeton at 5-3 after eight matches for the third straight season.
Princeton will enter the Rutgers match following an unplanned weekend away from competition, as the team's two scheduled matches at Washington State had to be scrapped because of snow-related travel complications. Meanwhile, Rutgers went to West Point and blanked Army 6-0 to improve to 3-1 following season-opening wins over Lehigh and Fairleigh Dickinson and a loss to Penn. The Princeton match will be the second of three against Ivy schools for Rutgers this season, as the Scarlet Knights will head to Cornell on March 1.
The match will begin a four-match homestand against regional rivals, with Princeton hosting a doubleheader against Stony Brook and Seton Hall on Friday, Feb. 28 and a single match the following day against Albany. Following the Rutgers match, six matches will remain for the Tigers before Ivy League play opens Mar. 29 against Penn.
