Courtesy: Princeton Athletic CommunicationsPrinceton senior Matija Pecotic earned a No. 2 national ranking as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its first charts since September.
Both Princeton men's and women's teams were included on the national top 75 list, with the men's team at No. 75 and the women at No. 71.
Both teams also had one singles player ranked on the 125-player lists, with Pecotic sharing his No. 2 billing with Alex Domijan of Virginia and freshman Amanda Muliawan making her rankings debut at No. 52.
Pecotic had a record of 26-2 in the fall, carrying a No. 67 ranking from the preseason list. Along the way, he went 13-1 against fellow ranked competition, with his only losses coming in the ITA All-America semifinal to his now-co No. 2 Domijan and to another Virginian, Mac Styslinger. Among players in the new top 10, Pecotic has wins over No. 1 Peter Kobelt of Ohio State and No. 10 Ray Sarmiento of USC, and Styslinger went from unranked to No. 7.
Muliawan was 11-4 this fall including a win in the ITA Northeast Regional that earned her a berth into the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate, where she took Texas A&M's Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar, then ranked No. 4 and now No. 3, to a third set before bowing out of the consolation round.
The women's team had three pairs on the 60-team doubles list, tying the team with UCLA and USC as the only schools in the nation with three pairs ranked. Lindsay Graff and Katherine Flanigan were No. 43, and Graff and Muliawan were No. 45. Monica Chow and Katie Goepel were No. 59.
Muliawan and Graff had the most matches and the most wins of Princeton's three ranked pairs as the duo compiling a record of 8-1 together.
On the men's side, Pecotic and Zack McCourt were No. 11 in doubles. The Tiger pair were 13-2 together winning two fall tournament titles.
