Both Princeton tennis teams will head north this weekend for the USTA/ITA Regionals as the fall season winds into its final weeks.
The women's team, which will scrimmage Rutgers at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in preparation for this weekend, will head to Army for the USTA/ITA Regionals beginning Friday and running through next Tuesday. Information on the women's regional, including draws, can be found here.
Lindsay Graff and Amanda Muliawan are the No. 1 seed in the doubles bracket, while Katherine Flanigan and Emily Hahn and Monica Chow and Katie Goepel are on the other side of the doubles bracket.
At last year's regional, which was held at Yale, Hilary Bartlett '12 was Princeton's top singles player, advancing to the round of 16, while current sophomore Katie Goepel and Rachel Saiontz '12 advanced to the doubles quarterfinal.
Friday will see two rounds of main-draw doubles with only qualifying-draw play in singles. The only Tigers playing singles are in the main draw, which has not yet been announced.
The event follows a weekend away from competition after Princeton took home four flight titles at the USTA Invitational at the National Tennis Center in New York City.
The men will be at Yale for their regional event, sending eight players. Matt Spindler, Augie Bloom, Matija Pecotic and Zack McCourt will play both doubles and singles, with Jonathan Carcione and Dan Richardson playing singles only and Matt Siow and Dan Davies playing doubles only.
The competition is Princeton's first since Pecotic's historic run to the semifinal at the ITA All-America tournament in Oklahoma two weekends ago.
At last year's USTA/ITA Regionals, Matt Siow and Matt Spindler were the highlight, winning a draw of 64 doubles duos to claim the regional title and gain a berth at the ITA National Indoors for Princeton for the first time since 2001.
