Princeton's women's tennis team will play in the ECAC Championship, hosted by Columbia, beginning Friday morning.

The Tigers appeared in the tournament annually from 2009-12 before the event was canceled last year due to a snowstorm. Princeton appeared in the championship match in 2009, 2011 and 2012 but ran into Yale each time as its final obstacle for the title.

This year, the Bulldogs are the top seed and would await third-seeded Princeton in the final if both teams advance. To get there, Princeton will have to get past sixth-seeded Dartmouth in a 9 a.m. match Friday and then second-seeded Columbia Saturday.

Though there are six teams in the tournament, Yale has a bye into the semifinal, where it will face the winner between fourth-seeded Cornell and fifth-seeded Brown Saturday. The loser of that match will face the Princeton-Dartmouth loser Saturday.

The tournament will run through Sunday, when the final and third-place matches will be played.

Princeton is 2-2 so far on the dual-match season with wins over Temple and St. John's and losses to national No. 1 Stanford and No. 54 Denver. The Tigers are ranked 69th in the nation and have one ranked singles player in freshman Alanna Wolff, who is ranked 62nd.
