Two multi-run innings by No. 4 North Carolina created too large of a deficit for the Princeton baseball team to rebound from, as the Tigers fell 15-5 to the Tar Heels Tuesday evening in Chapel Hill, N.C. The game was called in the top of the seventh inning due to inclement weather.

Freshman Danny Thomson made his first career start on the mound for the Tigers. After a scoreless first inning, UNC managed to rattle a run off the rookie in the second. Thomson received run support in the third, as Alec Keller was scored on a Tar Heel wild pitch and Mike Ford hit an RBI single up the middle to give Princeton a 2-1 lead.

Carolina countered in the bottom half of the third with a seven-run inning, but the Tiger offense was not deterred as Princeton made it an 8-5 game in the fourth. Sam Mulroy hit his third home run in as many games, sending three-run long ball over the left field wall.

UNC chipped a lone run on the board in the bottom of the fifth and tallied another offensive burst in the sixth with six runs to make it a 15-5 contest. The Tigers only saw two at bats in the seventh inning, before the game was ended due to thunderstorms.

The Tigers (4-7) next head UNC Greensboro for a Wednesday, Mar. 21 matchup at 6 p.m.
