Princeton and Rider are separated by six miles of Route 206 and, at the moment, hardly at all in their baseball records. It's only natural that they play on a yearly basis.

In fact, the local rivalry turns 50 today, when Princeton and Rider meet in Lawrenceville at 3:30.

Rider holds a 27-22 lead in the series, which has been essentially an annual arrangment since the first game in 1958. In fact, the teams have played once a year every year since 1989.

Rider enters the game at 11-22, while Princeton is 12-23. The Broncs are still in the hunt for a MAAC tournament spot, as they currently sit in seventh place in the league at 4-6, behind 5-7 Marist and 6-7 Monmounth. The top six teams advance to the conference tournament.

Princeton is 7-9 in the Ivy League's Gehrig Divsion, behind Penn and Columbia, who are both 13-3 and who play four times this weeend. Princeton is at Cornell Friday and then home with the Big Red for two on Sunday in the home finale, before travling to St. John's next week to end the season.

Princeton did take two of four from Penn this past weekend.
