Princeton had won four of five games over the weekend in Baltimore, but things didn't tip the Tigers way a bit further south Tuesday afternoon.

Georgetown swept a twinbill from Princeton, 3-1 and 7-6 in nine innings, to drop Princeton to 10-6 on the season. The Hoyas improved to 8-20.

Georgetown's Lauren O'Leary proved tough to solve in game one, as Princeton managed only three hits and a pair of walks against her. Princeton's only run was unearned, when Lizzy Pierce got on with a two-out walk in the third and scored on a Georgetown error committed during a Candy Button double.

Button finished with two of Princeton's three hits as Rachel Rendina got the other to lead off the game. O'Leary fanned 11 Tigers.

Liza Kuhn (3-1) took the loss for Princeton, giving up six hits without a walk. All six were singles, and four of those six hits plus a hit batter proved costly. Georgetown went ahead 2-0 in the second when Hannah Slovacek picked up a two-out single, and Shikara Lowe had the Hoyas' other RBI in the third after Princeton had scored to briefly halve the deficit.

Princeton led three times in the nightcap, but each time Georgetown came back. The second of those leads came on a Rachel Rendina hit, and Princeton went ahead 4-2 in the top of the sixth only to see the Hoyas tie it again with two runs in the bottom half of the inning against starter Alex Peyton.

The Tigers again went ahead as the game went long, this time in the top of the ninth on a Danielle Allen two-run hit, but Georgetown rallied against reliever Shanna Christian with two singles and a game-winning double by Sophia Garquicevich-Almeida for the 7-6 victory.

Rendina and Kayla Bose each had three hits in the nightcap to lead Princeton, while Peyton went 7 1/3 and gave up nine hits and eight walks, striking out five with three of her four runs earned. Shanna Christian (4-2) took the loss for Princeton, giving up three runs on three hits, striking out three.

The Tigers will head into Virginia Wednesday to take on James Madison (16-7) in a 3 p.m. doubleheader in Harrisonburg, Va.
