Senior Zach Bintliff hit a career milestone in his final match at Dillon Gym, earning the first 20-win season of his four-year carer, but it would not be enough to lead Princeton past Boston University in a 20-19 thriller at Dillon Gym.

Bintliff, who also won his final Ivy match yesterday at Penn, will head into the 2013 EIWA Championships (March 8-9 at Rutgers) having won five of his last six matches. The most accomplished postseason wrestler on the current Princeton roster, Bintliff can become the 27th wrestler in Princeton history to place at three different EIWA Championships.

Bintliff scored the first takedown of his match against Nick Tourville, and he ultimately built the lead to 4-0. Tourville would cut that deficit in half, but Bintliff was not about to give this match away. He finished the match with a 5-2 decision, and it ultimately put Princeton ahead 13-12 with three matches to go.

"Zach has been consistently improving his whole career. He has a blue-collar, workmanlike effort," head coach Chris Ayres said. "I think he has put himself in position to do something special in the postseason."

Unfortunately for Princeton, that lead would not be enough. Nestor Taffur, the Terriers' winningest wrestler on the season, scored a major at 157, and Mitchell Wrightman followed with a major at 165 to clinch the team win. Princeton junior Ryan Callahan was awarded a forfeit at 174 to close the team match.

Bonus points did Princeton in during a match where both teams won five individual showdowns. Tiger freshmen earned Princeton's first three wins, including the 21st victory for Scott Gibbons in the opening match at 184. He defeated Andrew Maksimovic 8-2 for the first home win of his young career.

Boston University took the next two matches, and seemed on the verge of a third before an exciting final period for freshman Max Rogers at 125. Trailing by two late against Chris McGinley, Rogers scored a late takedown, then spun McGinley to his back near the edge of the mat on the Princeton side for the two winning points in a 7-5 decision.

"I'm so happy with the way Max wrestled," Ayres said. "He has had it so difficult this year. It feels like he wrestles a top-ranked guy every weekend, and the way he got the win today was exciting. He has worked hard, and he deserved this win."

After a Tiger loss at 133, Princeton got consecutive wins to reclaim the lead. Freshman Kevin Moylan earned his 13th win of the season with a 9-1 major decision at 141, and Bintliff followed with his 20th win at 149.

The match also served as Senior Day for the Class of 2013.
