In its first Ivy road trip of the season, the Princeton baseball team swept Yale to extend its conference winning streak to four. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs 6-3 in game one and concluded the doubleheader with a 2-1 victory. Behind the sweep, Princeton improves to 11-11 overall, 5-1 Ivy League on the year.

Junior Matt Bowman led the Tigers with four hits and three RBI, while freshman Tyler Servais tallied three hits and a pair of runs on the day.

Game One

The Tigers employed a seventh inning offensive burst to defeat Yale, as both sides traded runs early on.

In the second inning, John Mishu's RBI single provided Princeton with a 1-0 lead, but the Bulldogs responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo homerun to even the score.

Bowman hit an infield RBI single in the third inning to lift the Tigers, 2-1; however Yale was there again to even things up in the next frame with a run of its own.

With no outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Alec Keller was hit by a pitch to score Jonathan York from third. Bowman followed with a two RBI single through the right side and two batters later, Mike Ford's sacrifice lineout added the Tigers' final run of the inning.

Down 6-2, Yale only managed a lone run in the bottom half of the inning, as Princeton pitcher Ford was able to get out of the frame before the Bulldogs could strike again.

Over seven innings on the mound, Ford tallied three strikeouts.

Game Two

A pair of second inning runs and solid pitching from Zak Hermans was enough to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 victory and sweep over Yale.

With runners on the corners and two outs, Nate Baird and Alex Flink tallied consecutive RBI singles to give Princeton a 2-0 advantage in the top of the second.

After a pair of scoreless frames, Yale's Ryan Brenner broke up Hermans' shutout with an RBI sacrifice fly. Hermans, who threw 8.1 innings and tallied six strikeouts, only gave up three hits over the final four innings, preventing the Bulldogs from taking control of the game.

Michael Fagan earned his first save of the year, striking out two of the three batters he faced in the ninth.

Princeton next heads to Brown, for a doubleheader on Sunday, April 8. First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.
