The Princeton baseball team will travel to Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend for its first Ivy road trip of 2013. The Tigers (5-18, 3-1 Ivy) will play doubleheaders versus the Big Green (15-3, 2-2 Ivy) Saturday and versus the Crimson (4-19, 1-3 Ivy) Sunday. First pitch is 12 noon both days.

Last Time Out: Despite loading the bases twice, the Tiger offense was unable to capitalize and fell 5-0 to Seton Hall on Apr. 3. The Pirates employed a two-out three-run third inning rally to put Princeton on its heels and added two more insurance runs down the stretch.

On Deck: Princeton remains on the road for its next six games, heading to Monmouth on Wednesday, Apr. 10, before going to Penn for a four-game series from Apr. 13-14.

A Look at the Defense: Last weekend three of Princeton’s starting pitchers threw complete games.
Zak Hermans picked up his first win of year and earned the team’s first shutout victory. He went seven strong, striking out five and gave up only three hits in Princeton’s 4-0 win versus Yale.
Mike Ford improved to 2-0 behind his five-strikeout seven-inning 3-1 victory over Brown.
Kevin Link concluded Princeton’s Ivy-opening weekend with a 3-1 win over Brown to guide the Tigers to a sweep of the Bears. Over nine frames, he struck out four, scattered four hits and gave up only one run.

On the Offensive End: Alec Keller and Danny Hoy maintain their stance as the Tigers top batters, both hitting above .300. Junior Keller is 22-for-66 (.333) with 11 runs, 10 RBI, five walks, four doubles, two homers and a triple. He is also 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts. Freshman Hoy is batting .300 (21-for-70) and has 11 walks, eight runs, four RBI and three doubles.

Scouting Dartmouth: Dartmouth (15-3) is riding a three-game winning streak after going 2-2 to open Ivy play. The Big Green were swept by Penn, before sweeping Columbia on the road. Ennis Coble leads the Dartmouth offense, batting a team-best .381 (24-for-63) with 13 runs and 13 RBI. He is one of five Big Green batters to be hitting above .300.

Starting on the mound are Cole Sulser and Kyle Hunter. Sulser (2-1) will go in game one and sports a 1.88 ERA. In 24.0 innings, he’s tallied 26 strikeouts, seven walks and batters are hitting .205 against him. Hunter (1-1) has Dartmouth’s top ERA at 1.74. In 20.2 innings, he’s tossed 19 strikeouts, six walks and batters are hitting .239 against him.

Scouting Harvard: Harvard (4-19) enters this weekend having lost five of its last six games, including going 1-3 to open Ivy play. Brandon Kregel headlines the offense with a .297 batting average (27-for-91) with 10 runs, nine RBI and eight walks. Probable starters have yet to be announced for the Crimson.
