With two outs and a runner on second in the bottom of the 10th inning, Mike Ford sailed an RBI single into the gap in left center to guide the Princeton baseball team to a 5-4 victory over Seton Hall Tuesday. The win marked the Tigers (13-12, 6-2 Ivy) first extra frame victory of the season.

In a game where the lead transferred sides five times, Princeton took a second inning 1-0 advantage. Leadoff batter Ford reached second on an error from Pirate third baseman D.J. Ruhlman. Steve Harrington's groundout advanced Ford to third and he scored on a balk from SHU's Conor Krauss.

Seton Hall's Giuseppe Papaccio evened the game in the top of the fourth with a home run to left field, but the Tigers rallied back to retake the lead in the bottom half of the inning. John Mishu hit a leadoff triple and two batters later Ford made it a 2-1 game with an RBI single down the right field line.

The Pirates responded with a Will Walsh two-run homer the following inning to earn their first advantage of the game, 3-2.

In his next offensive opportunity, Ford again was there to add another run for Princeton and even the game, 3-3. With one out, he was walked and sent home on three wild pitches from Seton Hall's Ed Ras.

With a runner on second, Mishu hit his second triple of the game in the seventh inning to lift the Tigers to a 4-3 advantage. The outfielder went 2-for-3 with an RBI, run and walk.

In the top of the ninth, the Pirates loaded the bases with two outs. A wild pitch from Princeton reliever Nick Donatiello brought home the tying run, 4-4. The Tigers were unable to rally back and score a run in the bottom half of the inning forcing extra frames.

Donatiello quickly got out of the 10th, allowing only one hit in four batters faced. Princeton picked up its freshman pitcher in the bottom half of the inning to give him his first career victory. Bowman led off with a single and was advanced to second on a Mishu sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Ford came to the plate and sent Bowman home to score the game-winner. Ford finished the day going 2-for-4 with two RBI and runs.

Princeton saw six different players on the mound, with Tyler Foote earning his first career start. The rookie went 3.1 innings and threw a pair of strikeouts. Classmate Danny Thomson had a strikeout 1.2 innings of work, including getting out of a bases loaded jam. Michael Fagan, A.J. Goetz and Ryan Makis each threw one full inning, and Donatiello threw the final two frames and had a strikeout.

"When we have these midweek games, we try to script out our pitching to get different guys out there. I was really pleased with our pitching, bringing all the different guys out there and giving them a chance ... I thought they all threw the ball well. To win a close game against a very good team can really help us going into the weekend," said head coach Scott Bradley.

Princeton remains at home this weekend, hosting Penn in a four-game weekend series from April 14-15. First pitch is slated for 12 noon on both days.
