The next time Princeton competes in an individual tournament will be March 8-9 at the Palestra for the EIWA Championships. The Tigers will try to grab a couple individual titles in their final tournament of the regular season Saturday when they head to Lancaster, Pa., for the 2014 Franklin & Marshall Open.
Princeton (3-1, 3-1 EIWA) sent its team to a pair of tournaments just before New Year's Eve. The majority of the starting lineup went to the 51st Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, while 11 members of the program competed at the Wilkes Open.
The team's best showing at an individual tournament came in Annapolis, where Princeton placed third in a strong field at the Navy Invitational. Princeton had six placewinners that day, including finalists Adam Krop and Abe Ayala. Both are among the group of 18 Tigers expected to compete at F&M Saturday. The tournament starts at 9 am, and you can follow results live either using the Track Wrestling link (above) or by following the Princeton Wrestling Twitter feed.
Last year, five Princeton wrestlers placed at the F&M Open, including four who would go on to start at the EIWA Championships. Current senior captain Dan Santoro and sophomore Scott Gibbons both led the way with third-place finishes.
Following the F&M Open, Princeton will shift into dual mode for the rest of January and February. That stretch will open next Friday with a road match at Hofstra.
