Final Non-Conference Game Sees American at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. (11/4/13) - The final non-conference game of the season is upon us as the Princeton men's soccer team hosts American on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.

The teams were scheduled to meet last year but was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.

Princeton holds a 9-6-2 lead in the all-time series. American won the last meeting a 2-1 game in 2010 when the seniors were just freshmen.

American enters its final regular season week at 5-7-5. The Eagles are 3-3-2 in the Patriot League and missed making the conference tournament by two points. Two freshmen lead the team in scoring. Dale Ludwig has nine points on three goals and three assists, while Joe Iraola has a team-high four goals. Senior Patrick Mehlert adds seven points, while classmate Cristobal Soto and Colin Seigfreid chip in six apiece. Senior Billy Knutsen has started in all but one game and has a 0.94 goals against average and an .818 save percentage.

Princeton takes a break from the Ivy League race. The Tigers are 6-7-1 overall and sit two points out of first place in the league standings. Sophomore Thomas Sanner and junior Cameron Porter sit atop the scoring column with 15 points apice. The pair rank second in the Ivy League in points. Sophomore Nico Hurtado adds six points, classmate Brendan McSherry has five and senior Patrick O'Neil has four. Senior Seth MacMillan has started in goal in all but one game and has a 1.58 GAA and a .618 save percentage. Sophomore Ben Hummel got the start in Princeton's last home non-conference game versus Drexel. He earned the shutout win without having to make a save.
