Princeton junior Kelly Shon posted an outstanding round of 68 Friday at the NCAA East Regional at Auburn, tying her for fourth in the field of 126.

Shon will need to be one of the top two players not on one of the eight advancing teams when all play is complete Saturday evening, and the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year is in position to do that heading into the final round.

Shon was -4 for the day Friday to stand at -5 for the weekend. Beginning her day on the 10th hole, Shon made par on the first six holes before bogeying the 16th. She came back with a birdie on the 17th hole, beginning a span of four birdies in five holes to move to -3 for the day. After three pars, she closed her day with a birdie, a bogey and another birdie on holes seven through nine, finishing at -4 with six birdies and two bogeys.

Thursday, Shon had two birdies and a bogey to stand at -1 through 18 holes, standing in a tie for 14th place.

Alabama has the top three spots on the leaderboard, led by Stephanie Meadow, the No. 2 player in the country according to the Golfweek rankings. Meadow was -6 Friday to stand at -10 for the tournament, and teammates Jennifer Kirby and Emma Talley are tied for second at -6 for the tournament. Madison Opfer of Tulane is tied with Shon at -5.

Alabama, Tulane, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Texas, North Carolina, Auburn and either UCLA or Tennessee are in position to advance after day two. Aside from players on those teams, Shon and Tulsa's Shu-Yin Liu (-3), who is also playing as an individual, hold the two bids to the NCAA finals after two rounds, but both will need to hold onto those spots for a ticket to Georgia in two weeks.

Results from the first two days can be found here via Golfstat. Shon's third round will start at 8:50 a.m. ET.
