No. 16 Men's Water Polo Falls to Bucknell 10-9
A slow offensive start would be too much to overcome for the No. 16 Princeton men's water polo team, as the Tigers were edged 10-9 by Bucknell Sunday evening in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Bison managed to find the back of the net three times, while holding off Princeton to a scoreless opening quarter. That 3-0 run would prove to be the differential in the game, as the Tigers were forced to play catch up.
Both sides scored twice in the second quarter to go into halftime with Bucknell leading 5-2.
Following the break, Princeton was unable find a scoring rally to propel past the Bison, as both squads would find the back the net three times apiece.
Down 8-5 entering the fourth quarter, the Tigers attempted a come-from-behind run. Alex Gow would make five of his 12 saves in the quarter, as the offense worked to even the score. With 49 seconds left in regulation, Tommy Donahue evened the game, 9-9, but the defense would not be able hold off the Bison to force overtime, as Bucknell managed to score the game-winner 11 seconds later.
