Men's Soccer Heads Back Out on the Road to Face Columbia

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/11/12) - The Princeton men's soccer team returns to the road after five games at home as it resumes Ivy League action at Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 13. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

Princeton enters the weekend with a 5-4-1 record and a 1-0-1 mark in the Ivy League to sit in second place in the standings with Brown. Princeton had a five-game unbeaten streak snapped by No. 24 Creighton on Tuesday night in a 3-2 overtime contest. The Tigers are 5-1 against unranked teams this season, as they've played four in the top 25 (St. John's, Georgetown, Brown, Creighton). Princeton averages 13.5 shots per game and scores and allows 1.30 goals per game. Leading the team offensively is freshman Thomas Sanner with 11 points on three goals and five assists. Elder brother Matt also has three goals to go along with two helpers for eight points. Sophomore Cameron Porter chips in two goals and three assists for seven points. Sophomore Myles McGinley and senior Mark Linnville contribute four and three points apiece. Dylan Bowman and Patrick O'Neil also have numbers for the Tigers. Junior goalkeeper Seth MacMillan boasts a 4-2-1 record, a 0.96 goals against average and a .759 save percentage, allowing just seven goals on 29 shots.

Columbia is 3-6-2 overall. The Lions are in a tie for fourth place in the Ivy League standings with a 1-1 mark. They defeated Penn 1-0 and lost to Brown 2-1. Most recently they played to a 1-1 tie with Providence this past Tuesday. Columbia averages just 8.7 shots per game and 0.82 goals, while allowing 1.09 goals per game. Kofi Agyapong and Nick Scott sit atop the scoring column with five points apiece. Scott has scored twice and added an assist, while Agyapong has one goal and a team-best three assists. Henning Sauerbier and Antonio Matarazzo both have three goals on one goal and one assist. Five other players have at least one point. The Lions use both Kyle Jackson and Michael Attal in goal. Jackson has started in six games, has a 3-3-1 record, a 1.11 GAA and an .814 save percentage. Attal has made four starts with a 0-3-1 mark, a 0.95 GAA and a .789 save percentage.
