PRINCETON, N.J. (9/23/12) - Brothers Matt and Thomas Sanner both scored to give the Princeton men's soccer team a 2-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson in the final game of the 2012 Princeton Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 23 on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.

It was the third consecutive win for the Tigers who improve to 4-3 overall. Striker Thomas Sanner, sophomore midfielder Myles McGinley and junior defender Billy McGuinness were all named to the all-tournament team.

Freshman Thomas Sanner put the Tigers on the scoreboard in the 16th minute. Junior Patrick O'Neil put the ball back on offense after grabbing it near the midfield line. He sent the ball into the 20 where Thomas Sanner shot into the lower left corner.

The elder Sanner gave Princeton a two-goal cushion in the 44th minute when he was left unmarked in front of the net and had a straight shot on a cross from McGinley.

Junior Seth MacMillan made five saves in goal. He made a nice stop on a shot by David Cornwell in the 89th minute to keep the clean slate. Two of FDU's shots on goal were long balls that MacMillan effortlessly swooped up.

The Princeton defense was relentless, not allowing many scoring opportunities for the Knights. The team kept heavy possession of the ball and had long stretches of not allowing the ball over the midfield line. Princeton outshot FDU 13-10 in the game.

Aleksander Djekic made his first collegiate appearance in goal and made two saves on four shots in the first half. Jacob Lissek started the second half for FDU, which falls to 3-4-1 on the season.

Princeton opens up Ivy League play on Saturday, Sept. 29 when it hosts Dartmouth at 5 p.m.
