PRINCETON, N.J. (9/14/12) - It wasn't for a lack of trying. The Princeton men's soccer team matched No. 12-ranked Georgetown in shots 17-17 but couldn't find the equalizer as the Hoyas won 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 14 on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.

The goal came in the 14th minute, following a string of offensive opportunities for the Tigers that kept the Hoyas defense on their toes. Georgetown struck with the play starting on a free kick at the top of the 20-yard box. The ball hit the left post and bounced back onto the field and made its way to Steve Neumann on the right side where he headed the ball towards the goal. Brandon Allen anticipated it and headed the ball down over the goal line.

Making his first appearance in goal, junior Seth MacMillan made six saves for Princeton. Following the goal Jimmy Nealis and Neumann both followed up with chances, as MacMillan stopped the Nealis shot and Neuman's shot spun just outside the far post.

Princeton's first two shots on goal came off the bench by the way of junior Lester Nare. He tested keeper Keon Parsa just two minutes after checking in with a header and again 10 minutes later.

MacMillan made another great save in the final minutes of the first half as he tipped a shot by John Snyder over the crossbar.

The Tigers came on strong in the second half and out shot the Hoyas 13-7, fighting for the game-tying goal.

Freshman Thomas Sanner started the second half and had a series of chances. He grabbed a great feed from brother Matt Sanner 10 minutes in but the ball was stopped by Parsa. Sanner had another shot three minutes later get scooped up and had a header off a short throw that went just wide five minutes later.

Sophomore Cameron Porter had a nice solo effort in the 65th minute after fighting the ball off a defender on the near touchline near the 50 yard mark and dribbled up the field where his shot went just wide

In the 84th minute, junior Dylan Bowman set up sophomore Julian Griggs with a cross into the box but Griggs shot was just high. Another bench player, freshman Nico Hurtado made himself known on the field. Three minutes after checking into the game, he had delivered a low shot on the left side on frame but it was stopped at the near post. Less than two minutes later he had another chance to put Princeton on the scoreboard but the shot was blocked by a defender.

Parsa finished the game with five saves to keep his team undefeated at 6-0-1.

Princeton falls to 1-3 and will play its final game of a string of five straight against BIG EAST opponents when it travels to Villanova on Sunday, Sept. 16 for a 1 p.m. game.
