PHILADELPHIA (2/21/12) - Former Princeton men's soccer player All-America Antoine Hoppenot has been signed to a contract with the Philadelphia Union, it was announced by the organization today.

Hoppenot was taken 39th overall in the 2012 Major League Soccer (MLS) Supplemental Draft in January. He has been training with the club since the start of preseason. Last week, Hoppenot scored twice in Union's preseason win over the University of Central Florida.

A native of Princeton, N.J., Hoppenot is a three-time first-team All-Ivy League selection. He was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2010, the same year he was named the Ivy League Player of the Year. A three-time all-region pick, Hoppenot finished his career at Princeton with 67 points in 69 points, scoring 26 goals and chipping in 15 assists. He helped to guide the Tigers to two NCAA Tournament appearances in his tenure.

The Union open the season on March 12 against Portland. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes at 9:30 p.m., EDT.
