Men's Soccer Announces Class of 2018

PRINCETON, N.J. (5/5/14) - Princeton head men’s soccer coach Jim Barlow and assistant coach Steve Totten are pleased to announce the incoming student-athletes who will make up the Class of 2018.

“We really like the incoming group and think there is a great deal of potential," Totten said. "We have put together a talented class that will add depth to an already strong roster. We are returning four first-team All-Ivy players from a team that was one win away from the Ivy League title last year. There should be competition for playing time at every position on the field."

Nicholas Badalamenti - Left Back/Left Wing
Harrison Township, Mich./L’Anse Area High School
Currently plays for U18 Vardar Academy...only player on U16 Vardar Academy to start every game and play every minute...led team in assists in the 2012-13 season that culminated in a USSF Academy playoff berth…among top three on U16 Vardar in goals and assists as a left back for the 2011-12 season…US Soccer Training Center Session invitee (these sessions are single-day, invitational training center run by US Soccer staff used to identify players for youth national teams)…prior to joining Vardar, played for Region 2 ODP, captained his Waza club team, and earned all-county honors as a freshman in high school.
Daniel Bowkett - Midfield
Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington College
Started both games at the 2014 New Zealand U20 National Team camp, that is currently in progress…in contention to play in the 2015 U20 FIFA World Cup when New Zealand hosts the event…played every minute of every game in the ASB Premiership for Wanderers SC, a team comprised of U20 New Zealand National Team pool players…named Player of the Tour for the New Zealand U19 Schoolboys National Team tour of the UK - the most successful NZ U19 Schoolboy tour to date...scouted to trial at English professional clubs Reading FC and Leicester FC…also played with Miramar Rangers and captained both Wellington College and Wellington Youth.
Chase Bishov - Goalkeeper
Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy College Prep
Currently plays for U18 Real Salt Lake Academy that is in first place in the Southwest Division of the Academy League…started more than 60 percent of games for 2012-13 USSF Academy National Champion U16 Real Salt Lake…invited to several US Soccer Training Center Sessions…invited to train with Real Salt Lake first team…played for Scottsdale Blackhawks prior to RSL and won the 2012 National League...appeared in 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships and won the Arizona State Cup four times.
Michael Chang - Midfield/Outside Back/Forward
Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park High School
Currently plays for U18 Sockers Academy as a forward or midfielder…played defense for U16 Sockers in the 2012-13 season…leading scorer for U16 Sockers in the 2011-12 season…invited to several US Soccer Training Center Sessions…member of U14 and U15 US national teams…member of 1995 Region 2 ODP team…as a sophomore in high school earned first-team all-conference and first-team all-sectional honors.
Matthew Mangini - Center Midfield
Warren, N.J./Pingry
Currently plays for U18 Players Development Academy (PDA) with the second-best record in the USSF Academy…team captain since 2011…U16 PDA teams finished with the best regular-season record in the USSF Academy in 2011-12 and the second-best regular-season record in 2012-13…participated in US Soccer Training Center Sessions…four-year starter at Pingry High School culminating in a senior season that saw him earn Skyland Conference Coaches All-Stars/Delaware Division, Courier News first-team all-area, Star-Ledger second-team all-state, Star-Ledger first-team all-non-public...led team with 16 goals and 13 assists and won the NJSIAA Non-Public A South sectional championship and was NJSIAA Non-Public A state finalists.
James Reiner - Center Back
Morristown, N.J./Gill St. Bernard’s School
Currently plays for FC Copa…coming off a senior season where he scored 23 goals in 24 games from center back...led Gill St. Bernard’s to a Non-Public B state championship, a Non-Public B South sectional championship and a Prep B state championship...named Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey first-team all-county and all-state, first-team all-conference, first-team All-Prep B, Star Ledger first-team all-county, Courier News first-team all-area, third-team All-Groups all-state, and first-team Non-Public all-state.
